Yin YogaYin Yoga is a very still and quiet yoga style and is the counter part to the Yang practice where movements and sequences are repeated and the muscle tissue gets strengthened. In Yin Yoga the poses are held over a longer period of time, usually 3 to 5 minutes, to relax the muscles. The chosen asanas focus mainly on hips and lower back as there is meant to be the root of physical and emotional tension. How deep you go into the poses and how exactly the look from the outside varies from person to person. Goal is to find an appropriate stretch for certain groups of muscles. As this is anatomically very individual there are variations and modifications for every body. A balanced lifestyle contains Yin as well as Yang whereby the Yang part must not necessarily be practiced in form of a Yoga style like Vinyasa but can also be found in other strengthbuilding movements, for example surfing. Especially people who do a lot of challenging sports find a good counter balance in Yin Yoga. |
